Learning Environments

Nursery (0-1 Year)

Our Nursery provides a calm, nurturing and responsive environment where our youngest children feel safe, secure and loved. We understand that the first year of life is a time of incredible growth and development, and our dedicated educators work closely with each family to ensure every child’s individual routines, needs and preferences are respected.

Strong, trusting relationships are at the heart of our nursery program. Through warm, responsive interactions, gentle care routines and meaningful one-on-one experiences, we support children as they develop a sense of belonging, confidence and security. Every cuddle, conversation and interaction is viewed as an opportunity to build relationships and support learning.

Our carefully designed indoor and outdoor environments encourage exploration through sensory play, music, movement and age-appropriate resources that stimulate curiosity while supporting cognitive, physical and emotional development.

Your child will experience:

  • Sensory and exploratory play

  • Safe opportunities to discover the world around them

Toddler 1 (1 – 2 years)

The Toddler 1 room is a place of discovery, curiosity and growing independence. During this stage, children are developing rapidly as they begin exploring their environment with confidence, building communication skills and learning alongside their peers.

Our educators provide a safe and engaging environment where children are encouraged to investigate, experiment and develop new skills through play. Daily experiences are intentionally planned to foster language development, creativity, physical movement and social connections while recognising each child’s individual interests and developmental milestones.

We understand that toddlers thrive through consistency, encouragement and positive relationships. Our team supports each child’s growing independence while providing reassurance, guidance and plenty of opportunities to explore at their own pace.

Your child will experience:

  • Play-based learning experiences
  • Language and communication development
  • Music, movement and creative expression
  • Sensory exploration
  • Opportunities to build confidence and independence

Our Toddler 2 room supports children as they continue to develop confidence, independence and a love of learning. During these important years, children become increasingly curious about the world around them, and our educators provide rich learning experiences that encourage exploration, problem-solving and social development.

Our play-based curriculum is guided by children’s interests while incorporating intentional teaching to extend learning across all developmental areas. Through hands-on experiences, children are encouraged to ask questions, express ideas, develop friendships and build important life skills in a supportive and nurturing environment.

The indoor and outdoor learning spaces are thoughtfully designed to inspire creativity, promote active learning and provide opportunities for children to make choices and develop confidence in their abilities.

Learning is guided by children’s interests and intentionally planned to support all areas of development through meaningful, hands-on experiences. Children are encouraged to become active participants in their learning, ask questions, investigate ideas and develop resilience through play and exploration.

Preschool (4 – 5 years)

Our Preschool room is specifically designed for children in the year before they commence school, providing a dedicated and purposeful learning environment that supports a successful transition to Kindergarten.

Led by our Bachelor-qualified Early Childhood Teacher, the program is carefully planned to build the confidence, independence and skills children need as they prepare for the next stage of their educational journey. Through a balance of child-led exploration and intentional teaching, children are encouraged to think critically, solve problems, develop friendships and become active, capable learners.

Our Preschool program focuses on developing the whole child. Alongside early literacy and numeracy experiences, children strengthen their communication, emotional regulation, resilience, creativity and social skills through meaningful play and engaging learning experiences.

From 2027, our Preschool room will be exclusively for children in the year before they start school. This dedicated approach allows our educators to deliver an enhanced school readiness program tailored specifically to the developmental needs of pre-kindergarten children, ensuring they are well prepared for a confident and successful transition to school.

At Lilac Early Learning, we believe school readiness is about far more than academic knowledge. It is about fostering capable, resilient and confident children who are curious, independent and excited to embrace their next learning adventure.

Your child will experience:

  • A dedicated Preschool program exclusively for children in the year before school
  • A comprehensive school readiness program led by a Bachelor-qualified Early Childhood Teacher
  • Early literacy, numeracy and STEM experiences
  • Inquiry-based learning and project work
  • Leadership opportunities and growing independence
  • Experiences that build confidence, resilience and a lifelong love of learning

Nature Play & Outdoor Learning

At Lilac Early Learning, we believe children learn best when they have the opportunity to explore, discover and connect with the natural world. Our outdoor learning environments are thoughtfully designed to extend children’s learning beyond the classroom, encouraging curiosity, creativity and a sense of adventure.

We value the use of natural materials and open-ended resources that inspire children to investigate, problem-solve and use their imagination. Timber, stones, leaves, logs, plants, loose parts and sensory elements encourage children to create, explore and learn in meaningful ways, with no limits to where their imagination can take them.

Our outdoor spaces provide opportunities for children to develop confidence, resilience and independence through active play. Whether climbing, balancing, gardening, building, observing nature or engaging in imaginative play, children are supported to challenge themselves, take appropriate risks and develop essential life skills in a safe and nurturing environment.

We recognise that outdoor learning supports every aspect of a child’s development. Through regular access to nature and purposeful outdoor experiences, children strengthen their physical skills, build social connections, develop problem-solving abilities and foster a lifelong appreciation for the environment.

At Lilac Early Learning, our outdoor environments are more than just places to play—they are rich learning spaces where children are encouraged to explore, grow and develop a genuine connection with the world around them.
